Finally, the wintry weather seems to have passed and it’s starting to feel like summer! The whales are out along South Shore as they make their way north and the Longtail birds are flying around the coast….our sign that summer is on its way. On the way home the other day, people had pulled over to the side of the road to watch the whales breaching outside the reefs….with the sun out and Longtails flying…it was a truly beautiful day to stop and enjoy!
This month’s visitors to Pieceworks included the Owen family from Shropshire, England. It was their second visit to Bermuda …and second visit to Pieceworks. How wonderful to see them again. Their mosaic collection at home has just grown by two more….a scary shark and a beautiful fish sun catcher 🙂
Pieceworks now has more space to hold workshops (make your own mosaic), Intro to Mosaic Classes, children’s and adult birthday parties and Ladies Nights Out events at Long House, 2 Pennos Drive, St. George’s.
Mosaics by Donna (Aganetha) are available for purchase at Pieceworks Mini Gallery and Gifts located inside The Book Cellar, on Water Street, St. George’s. Photo cards by Susan Gibbons, Diana Amos Colour Calendars, jewelry by Tanya Stafford are also available in the mini gallery…come and browse!
October was a rough ride at the studio! As most of you are aware, the lovely old building lost most of its roof in the hurricanes that hit Bermuda during that month. As a result, there are some changes.
Completed mosaics along with Susan Gibbons cards and Diana Amos’ calendars will be sold out of The Old Cellar on Water Street.
Pieceworks, the studio will stay at Long House and be open for workshops and Intro Classes by appointment only until further notice.
If you are in St G during the week, you will find me busily on Christmas commissions so please, do come by. I’m always eager to hear about your newest mosaic and projects!
Our cruise ship visitors are discovering mosaics! This past couple of weeks, I have had cruise ship passengers drop into the studio for workshops to make their own souvenirs! One creative family used small letter tiles and glass numbers to record the year and destination on their island themed mosaic. Have a peek below :

Shards of Joy,
“Eye on You”
Wow…the months flew by…or should I say, sailed by! In June and July, Pieceworks saw school groups for workshops and some beautiful ceramic and stained glass coasters/small wall plaques were made by the students.
July was a month of yacht races and St. George’s Harbour was filled with them. Competitors and recreational sailors came by to visit and shop at the studio..one sailor had time for a workshop 🙂 They came from all over the world…U.S., Canada, Russia, Germany, France…a family of four…a couple with a cat. I am learning about a whole different lifestyle through having the studio in St. George’s and I am loving it.
Naturally, all the beautiful sailboats inspired me to create mosaics of them. The shapes of the sails and colours of the harbour shouted ‘stained glass’ to me. One I titled “Sailing through The Cut”….’the cut’ is the strip of water between two pieces of land that boats sail through to enter the St. George’s Harbour.
