Repairs to Long House in March

Birthday party!

Birthday party!

It has been a long wet and windy winter for us this year. Weather delayed repairs to our historic building but Pieceworks remained dry and open! We celebrated birthdays and enjoyed Mosaic and Wine nights….in addition to making our way to Warwick Academy for a craft  experience with Year 2s. Last but not least, Pieceworks welcomed Heather and her son, Colin from Canada yesterday :).  Colin led mom in their mosaic airplane with eyes, no less!  Heather had checked out fun activities to do while on holiday and signed up for mosaics after a morning at Masterworks Super Saturday! Colin is going home with fun handmade crafts to remember his first trip to Bermuda.  This mom and son really did discover that Bermuda offers ….so much more!

Change is in the Wind

Standard

imageOctober was a rough ride at the studio! As most of you are aware, the lovely old building lost most of its roof in the hurricanes that hit Bermuda during that month. As a result, there are some changes.

Completed mosaics along with Susan Gibbons cards and Diana Amos’ calendars will be sold out of The Old Cellar on Water Street.

Pieceworks, the studio will stay at Long House and be open for workshops and Intro Classes by appointment only until further notice.

If you are in St G during the week, you will find me busily on Christmas commissions so please, do come by. I’m always eager to hear about your newest mosaic and projects!

April is upon us and there is definitely a buzz in the ol’ Towne of St.George. I am thrilled that young and young- at- heart choose Pieceworks to enjoy time with family and friends, creating keepsakes of their time together.  Locals come with visitors and make a mosaic to remember Bermuda and their time together.  Moms come with  their tots to have fun an enjoy each other….as well as build those fine motor and problem solving skills 🙂  The best learning comes through play!  As a teacher, I have definitely found my niche!  I get the best part of teaching without all the paperwork!!!  Below are photos of a group friends and the other family…all enjoying their time together and making memories. Isn’t that what it’s all about??? 🙂  Happy Easter!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

February is turning out to be a busy month for workshops…frames and votive candle holders.  Very appropriate for sharing photos and setting the table for a romantic dinner for two!  I loved making the mosaics in the photo using the pinks, reds and whites associated with February….and hope the photo entices you to try your hand at mosaics or any other craft of your choice!

Mosaics - Valentines Day 2014

Framing Memories

Standard

Crashing Wave Frame     The ol’ town of St. George’s is so quiet with folks taking a well deserved break after the busy holiday season. For me, it is a great time to catch up on orders and create mosaics for our 2014 visitors. With a quiet town and studio, January and February are perfect  for an afternoon workshop or a class to learn a new skill. I have lots of frames in stock at the moment so it’s a good time to design one, if you’ve been thinking of that as a project. Maybe a frame for your favourite Christmas photo?

This month’s mosaic incorporates stained glass, millefori, textured mirror and kismet tile and titled “Crashing Waves”.

A frame for a 5″ x 7″ photo can take from 2-4 hours to create so it’s perfect for an afternoon workshop.  Cost for a frame workshop is $60..all materials and basic instruction included. Grouting is done for you after 24hours and collection/pick up can be arranged.  Please ask about group rates.
